iXBRL Reporting

XBRL, or eXtensible Business Reporting Language, is an open standard framework for exchanging business information. XBRL has long been used by many regulators and it is common across financial services and insurance for regulations such as Solvency II and CRD IV. XBRL is machine-readable, hence why it is preferred and so widely mandated. However, XBRL it is not human-readable.

iXBRL, or Inline XBRL, enables a single document, such as a company’s Annual Report and Accounts, to be both human and machine-readable. It’s no wonder that iXBRL is quickly becoming the mandated format for financial returns.
